If You Leave – OMD

This song is definitely a reminder of Jeff Kappel from  back in 1987 when I left Chicago (and Jeff) behind and headed for Dallas to live with my father.  Jeff and I thought that we would maintain our thing in spite of the distance, but so much changes so fast when you are in high school and it is very difficult to sustain that kind of distance.    Shortly after moving, I video taped The Breakfast Club and watched it over and over and over….hahah.  That movie is probably great for all of us teens of the 80’s to relate to.

If you leave, don’t leave now
Please don’t take my heart away
Promise me, just one more night
Then we’ll go our separate ways
We’ve always had time on our sides
Now it’s fading fast
Every second, every moment
We’ve got to, We’ve got to make it last

I touched you once, I touched you twice
I won’t let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we’d still be friends someday

If you leave I won’t cry
I won’t waste one single day
But if you leave don’t look back
I’ll be running the other way
Seven years went under the bridge
Like time was standing still
Heaven knows what happens now
You’ve got to, You’ve got to say you will

I touched you once, I touched you twice
I won’t let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we’d meet again

I touched you once, I touched you twice
I won’t let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we’d still be friends

I touched you once, I touched you twice
I won’t let go at any price
I need you now like I needed you then
You always said we’d meet again someday

ohwoah ohwoah ohwoah ohwoah ohwoah

If you leave (ohwoah)
If you leave (ohwoah)
If you leave (ohwoah)
Don’t look back
Don’t look back
