Birthday Plans

Looks like the option to celebrate the 4th of July on my company balcony is unofficially open. Looks like we are going to form our own party. The balcony overlooks Tempe Lake where the fireworks can be seen very well. This way, we can drink and eat and watch fireworks without fighting the crowd and paying outrageous prices.

Victim Of Changes – Judas Priest

This is a great song and Karl sings it very well, so it will always remind me of him.

Whiskey woman don’t you know that you are drivin’ me insane
The liquor you give stems your will to live and gets right to my brain
Don’t you know you’re driving me insane
You’re tryin’ to find your way through life
You’re tryin’ to get some new direction
Another woman got her man
She won’t find no new connection
Takes another drink or two, things look better when she’s through
Takes another look around, you’re not goin’ anywhere
You’ve realized you’re gettin’ old and no one seems to care
You’re tryin’ to find your way again
You’re tryin’ to find some new…
Another woman’s got her man
But she won’t find a new…
Takes another drink or two, things look better when she’s through
You ‘bin foolin’ with some hot guy
I want to know why is it why
Get up get out you know you really blew it
I’ve had enough, I’ve had enough, good God pluck me
SOLO (K.K./Glenn)
Once she was wonderful
Once she was fine
Once she was beautiful
Once she was mine…she was mine
Now change has come over her body, she doesn’t see me anymore
Now change has come over her body, she doesn’t see me anymore
Changes, changes, changes, changes
Victim of changes

Upcoming Birthday

Well, my birthday is coming on July 4th and for the first time in as far back as I can remember, I have no plans and the people who I normally spend the day with are not going to be here. Mark is in Guam. Janet is off on a business trip somewhere. My company just announced that there will not be a company party on the balcony. Last year I spent July 4th at my company party with Mark. It was nice because the balcony overlooks Tempe Lake where the fireworks go off. Maybe I should just pack a bag and head out of town with the boys. I just already feel very alone right now and being alone on my birthday may not be the best thing for me. This too will pass.

Winds Of Change

Life is changing on me again. I have so many decisions to make and so many choices in front of me. I do not think I will ever be the type of person who can just exist each day with a complete routine. I know someone who can, and I always thought that I needed to learn something from him. Actually, I learned a lot from him. Now the winds of change are blowing and I am a feather in the wind. Sometimes I get caught up in a light whirlwind and just go around in circles. Sometimes I float high for days on a steady current.

Hi AMY

Schism – Tool

This song could have been written for Mark and I.   So much history between us and so many challenges over the past 11 years…  I always thought that through it all, we would rediscover each other, but now it seems the pieces have crumbled.

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering, fundamental differing,
Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so
We cannot see to reach an end crippling our communication.

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame it doesnt mean I dont desire to
Point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over.
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication.

The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it.
Finding beauty in the dissonance.

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
Ive done the the math enough to know the dangers of a second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication

Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion

Between supposed lovers
Between supposed lovers.

And I know the pieces fit.

Monsoon

Last night was great!!! For those of you that do not know, lightning storms in the desert are awesome. Last night, the lightning and thunder began and my boys and I sat in the back yard on the bench swing and watched these huge bolts of lightning kiss the earth and spread across the sky. The thunder was rouring and pounding and the wind was blowing and my windbell was dinging and it was just incredible. Then the rain began and my boys and I went out in the front and twirled around in the street and danced a great rain dance as the sky dumped harder and faster and we were completely soaked in a few minutes. It was absolutely fantastic! The monsoon has begun!!! Yippie! My power went out around 8pm and we lit a bunch of candles. There were six houses in a row on my block that were out of power. My neighbors and I hung out in front and drank some beer and the rain came and went here and there. I had trouble sleeping in the dark, hot, humid house and was outside until around 2am just trying to get tired enough to sleep in spite of no fan blowing. It is going to be a long day today. But it was so nice to have the storm.

Overnight Sail Boat Adventure

What an incredible day!! Early this morning, Karl and I headed up to Lake Pleasant for a 24 hour sail boat adventure. He rented the 25 foot Catalina. We stopped at the grocery store to get some food and supplies and arrived at the lake around 9:45 and were on the boat and heading out of the dock by 11am. The winds were great and I learned a bunch about sailing. There was always something to do and I was very much ok with helping out. I learned how to watch the sails and see how they are behaving in order to determine how to set them. At times, we were heading for a particular course and had to adjust the sails to meet the wind. Other times, we were just sailing around, finding the good wind and the good direction of sail and gaining speed. We had a couple of opportunities to swim in the lake and cool off and we both got some sun in our skin.

The day was perfect and the wind was strong, so it was a great day for sailing.

SailingSailing

Around 6pm, we headed back to the dock. The wind was so strong then and the sails were just flapping. Karl got up there to drop the sails and I had to steer into the wind. I found this to be more challenging than I thought and I needed to hold onto the boom because the wind was taking it back and forth while Karl was trying to get the sails down. After all of that, we were both ready for a drink, so we pulled into the dock and tied up the boat and went up to the bar.

After a couple beers, we went back to the boat to have supper. I grilled up some portabella mushrooms in garlic and butter and Karl made some chicken stew. It was all very yummy. Our boat was docked in a perfect spot for the sunset. Wow! It was truly amazing!!!

After being in the sun all day, it was time to kick back. We ended up falling asleep on the boat deck and woke up sometime around 11pm. Then went for a walk and came back to the boat for some giggles and kiwi.

I think I fell asleep here around 3:30am or so. This is the bed. It was actually quite comfortable. Laying here, falling asleep to the sounds of water swishing and the boat swaying and birds and ducks and geese and all the sounds of the water, was just wonderful and very tranquil. I need to do this more often. I haven’t been this relaxed in a long time.

Kurt and Nichole

Well, I drove out to San Diego this morning to go to Kurt and Nicholes wedding. It was nice. I have pics here. Afterward, I went to visit a friend and see his band play at Brick by Brick in San Diego. It was very nice. I headed back to AZ around 11pm. It was quite the trip.

Charlie

Charlie, our new dog, has really become part of the family. Now that he has grown a bit and gotten very comfortable here, I have taken some pictures.
